How do the new Immigration Levels Affect You?

Posted on November 6, 2026

Migrant Rights Network PR update · November 2026
New PR announcements · 2025 and 2026

Could you get permanent residence faster?

Canada announced changes that may speed up PR for some people already in Canada, including people whose refugee claims were approved and people who already applied through certain PR programs. These changes are not enough – and not everyone is included. Rules change often so no matter your situation, sign up below to make sure you get updates.

Answer a few questions to find out whether you might be included.

!
This is NOT a new PR program. Most measures are for people who have ALREADY APPLIED for PR. Being able to work in Canada does not, by itself, make you eligible.
Step-by-step guide

Find your situation

Choose what applies to your refugee claim or PR application. You can check more than one path.

Which government announcements are we checking?

Announced 2025 · 2026–27 115,000

People with approved refugee claims or positive PRRAs, plus eligible family members.

Announced 2025 · 2026–27 33,000

Applicants through selected regional and occupation-based PR programs.

Announced 2026 · for 2027 100,000

People through selected economic PR programs, including PNP.

Announced 2026 · for 2027 100,000

People with certain humanitarian, Ukraine, Hong Kong or family PR applications.

Whatever your result

We have to keep fighting for permanent status for all.

Some people may have their PR applications processed faster. Many others are still excluded. The rules change, and no one’s rights should depend on being chosen for a special measure.

We will be in touch as more details are announced.

This questionnaire explains announced government processing priorities, not individual eligibility or PR approval.

Updated November 6, 2026. The questionnaire does not collect or store answers. The Action Network form collects information only when you submit it.
